On February 24, the anniversary of the war in Ukraine, the people of Šilutė carry flags and candles of solidarity in the markets near the Šilute culture and entertainment center. With Ukrainian and Lithuanian songs, brought candlelight, we contributed to the solidarity and unity campaign „Freedom shines. Radar”.
The organizers of the Solidarity action invited to contribute to the „Radarom” action. All funds collected during the campaign will be used to purchase multifunctional tactical radars. The purpose of the radars is to monitor the airspace around such strategically important objects for Ukraine as power plants, water towers, etc., which help to ensure as normal a life as possible for Ukrainians during the war. During the event, Anastasija Kvichata, a Ukrainian from Kharkiv, gave her songs, and greetings to Ukraine were written on postcards created by students of Šilute educational institutions.
„Last year, on the first day of the war, we invited people in Vilnius and throughout Lithuania to come out to the squares of their cities and towns to support Ukraine. Then it seemed that everything would end soon, but the year has passed… The essential message of this year is „Let Freedom shine. Let Freedom ring!”, the initiator of the action, director, public activist Agnė Zalanskaitė invites.
