    FOLKLORE ENSEMBLE „VERDAINĖ” OF ŠILUĘE CULTURAL CENTER

    Folk ensemble „Verdainė”

    in 1988 A folklore ensemble called „VERDAINĖS” was created in the city of Šilutė near the culture and entertainment center. Verdaine is one of the four villages that were united in 1511. the town of Šilute (Šilokarčema – Heidekrug) was located.

    The mission of the „Verdainė” ensemble is to nurture the ethnic culture of Little Lithuania and the Šilutė region, to pass it on from generation to generation. This mission pays off, as even several generations have been involved in the ensemble since its inception. Children and grandchildren grow up here. Over 35 years, more than 100 people who love folk art have participated in the ensemble's activities. The repertoire of the folklore ensemble is songs, dances, stories, circles, games recorded in the region of Little Lithuania and Klaipėda region. The ensemble „Verdainė” actively performs concerts, presents its programs to the communities of Šilutė district, guests from Lithuania and abroad. Verdainians remind the residents of Šilute of the traditions of Mardi Gras, Little Easter, St. Martin's Day, and Mid-Autumn Festival.

    Presenting the traditions of the Pomeranian region, the people who lived here, the ensemble was repeatedly filmed by LRT. The ensemble „Verdainė” released a CD, Lithuanian Radio recorded part of the program.

    The ensemble is a multiple participant of international folklore festivals in Lithuania: BALTICA „Skamba, skamba kankliai” – Vilnius, „Parbēks laivelis” – Klaipėda, „Atataria lamzdžiai” – Kaunas. Since 1990 participates in the World Lithuanian Song Festival. The folklore ensemble „Verdainė” presented Lithuania and Šilutė in Turkey, Germany, Poland, Macedonia, Italy, Bulgaria, Spain.

    in 1998 for fostering ethnic culture, the ensemble „Verdainė” was awarded the „Silver Reed” prize of Šilutė district, and in 2008 the highest rating of Lithuanian art self-activity collectives „Golden Bird”.

    in 2023 January 15 together with Šilutė r. As amateur art collectives, the ensemble presented its musical program on the LRT show „Duokim garo”, which was dedicated to celebrating the centenary of the annexation of Klaipėda region to Lithuania.

    There are currently 25 members of the ensemble.

    Mixed vocal ensemble „Mingė”

    The origins of the mixed vocal ensemble of Šilutė Cultural Center date back to 1977, when a vocal group was formed at the dance and song ensemble „Rezginėlė”. in 2001 after the breakup of the dance and song ensemble, a vocal group remained, which took the name of Lithuania's Venice – „MINGĖ”.

    The ensemble is a multiple participant and graduate of the republican competitions „Silver Voices”, „Šilų aidai”. The repertoire of the „Mingė” collective is secular and sacred original vocal music by Lithuanian and foreign authors, as well as developed folk songs.

    The mixed vocal ensemble „Mingė” would not exist if 12 people from various professions who love song did not participate in it. The collective performs many concerts and is recognized as one of the best vocal ensembles in the Šilutė region. „Mingė” dedicates its songs and the warmth of its heart to a large group of listeners not only in Šilute area

    in 2018 the ensemble released the CD „I don't sing because I learned by singing, but because my heart wants a song”.

    WOMEN'S VOCAL ENSEMBLE „VAIVORA” OF ŠILUŘE CULTURAL CENTER

    The female vocal ensemble Vaivora was formed in 1983. In the beginning, it was the women's choir of Šilute Hospital, consisting of people who love song. Participated in 1990, 1994, 1998. and in 2003 At the Lithuanian Republican and Western Region Song Festivals. in 1994 and in 1998 the group performed in Germany.

    Women's vocal ensemble „Vaivora”

    Ensemble „Vaivora” is a permanent participant of the all-Lithuanian vocal ensemble competition in Šilalė „Šilų aidai”, in 1995. having earned the title of laureate. The collective participated in the republican contests „Silver Voices” in 2005 (II degree diploma), 2010 (II degree diploma), 2010 (name of laureate), 2021 (II degree diploma).

    With the sacred music program in 2006. and in 2007 the ensemble participated in the international festival in Marijampolė „Let's sing… Alleluia”.

    For 25 years, the women's vocal ensemble „Vaivora” has been organizing evenings of sacred music at the Šilute Catholic Church, in which other collectives and guests from the area also participated.

    The key to the life of an ensemble is the awareness of traditional vocal values and the joy of sharing them with others.

    ŠILUŘE CULTURAL CENTER FOLK MUSIC ENSEMBLE „KARČEMA”

    The folk music ensemble „Karčema” of Šilutė Cultural Center was founded in 1996. The musicians of the collective play folk, country and pop style music. At the moment, the ensemble has 4 musical programs: the folk music program „Vakaruškas”, a program of the most popular songs by V. Kernagis, V. Stakėnas, a fun country music program and „The Right Fishing and Fishing Songs” about the adventures of fishermen in the Pamari region. Professional musicians from the cities of Šilutė, Gargžda, Klaipėda play in the collective.

    Folk music ensemble „Karchema”

    The collective organizes more than 12 concerts a year in the city and district of Šilutė. In December, the ensemble gives its fans a concert of the best old and new songs at the Šilute culture and entertainment center. The „Karčema” ensemble regularly participates in the republican village band festivals „Grok, Jurgeli”, „Ant rubežius”, in the filming of the LRT show „Duokim garo”, they perform their programs at the international country music festival „Visagino country”. Musical programs of the folk music ensemble were performed in Latvia, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Estonia.

    ŚILUTĖ CULTURAL CENTER „VĘTRUNGĖ” CHAPEL „VETRUNGĖ”

    The „Vētrungė” chapel of the Šilutė cultural center in the village of Naujakuriu, Šilutė district was established in 2021. on June 10, since then the life and creative activities of the band began. Currently, the band consists of 13 members, of which 7 members play various musical instruments: accordion, harmonica, violin, double bass, clarinet, saxophone and percussion instruments. The remaining 6 members of the band perform vocal parts.

    The main task of the band's musical activity is the nurturing of folk music and ethnic culture. The band has prepared more than 30 pieces of folk music. The „Vētrungė” collective performed vocal and instrumental works at various cultural events organized by Šilute city and district.

    The collective constantly rehearses and updates its musical programs. The collective aspires to participate not only in the cultural events organized by the city and district, but also in the Klaipėda Region and Republic Song Festival.

    ŠILUTĖS CULTURAL CENTER ŚVĖKSNAS ELDERLY PEOPLE'S DANCE COLLECTIVE „SHALNA”

    The dance collective „Šalna” came together in 2003. After gathering, the first dancers decided to come up with a name for the group, after thinking for a long time they decided to name themselves after the stream that flows through Švėkšna.

    During the twenty years of its existence, the change of members of the collective was small, most of them have been dancing since the day of its creation. Already in the first year, the collective started performing, not only in Švėkšna, but also in the district. They celebrated their first birthday by learning 6 dances. In the third year of its existence, the dance group participated in the TV show „Give us steam”, where we received great support from the audience and won 1st place.

    The dance troupe made friends with German dance troupes, participated in the Lindchorst town festival, and also danced in Grasleben. They often perform at regional and national events, not a single celebration of the town of Švėkšna is complete without the „Šalna” band. The „Šalna” team won the 3rd and 2nd places in the republican competitions „Iš Aplinkui” in Širvinto, and the 2nd place winners in the republican competition „Pora za poros” in Prienai.

    Since 2007, the „Šalnas” collective has participated in all programs of Lithuanian song festivals.

    MIXED CHOIR „PAMARIO AIDAS” OF ŠILUŘE CULTURAL CENTER

    The mixed choir „Pamario aidas” was established in 1993. on February 28. Currently, the choir consists of 23 members, many of whom have been involved in the choir since its inception.

    During its lifetime, the choir performed more than 200 works and held more than 300 concerts. A number of former exiles and political prisoners sing in this choir. The unique feature of this collective is that the choir members themselves create the lyrics and music, perform and pass on these works to future generations. Their songs tell about the experiences experienced by Lithuanians in the GULAG, the endless quest for freedom and the inexhaustible love for Lithuania, the land of Šilutė.

    in 2010 March 11 mixed choir „Pamario aidas” was awarded the most prestigious award of the district – the „Silver Reed” prize. The choir received such recognition for its long-term social activities and the promotion of Šilutė region by participating in various choral singing and Lithuanian political prisoners and exiles events. in 2013 a CD with recordings of songs performed by the choir was released.

    Choir „Pamario aidas” participates as far as possible in republican events of political prisoners and exiles, Lithuanian song festivals and song festivals of the western region of Lithuania.

    Mixed vocal ensemble „Vox Libri”

    On the initiative of choirmaster Rasa Golubovskienė, the group started its activities in 2013, actively performed concerts, participated in the international festival in Prague, organized concerts. in 2018 the choir „Vox Libri” stopped its concert activities, but after a year's break it returned to the stage again.

    Currently, 16 people from Šiluti with different professions and hobbies sing in the „Vox Libri” ensemble, who are united by their love for music and singing. For all of them, singing in this group is an integral part of life. Vox Libri has more than 200 works of different genres and styles in its repertoire.

    Participants of Lithuanian and Western song festivals, also participate in vocal and choral music projects and festivals of Lithuanian cities and districts, organize their own solo concerts, cooperate with other collectives.

    SACRED MUSIC MIXED CHOIR „LAUDAMUS” OF ŠILUŘE CULTURAL CENTER

    Choir „Laudamus” is the youngest collective of the Šilutė Cultural Center, founded in 2018. Initiator and team leader – Irena Šemeklienė. Concertmaster Kristina Budvytytė Mejerė.

    Sacred music mixed choir „Laudamus”

    Choir „Laudamus” actively performs in churches, participates in Lithuanian song festivals, festivals and gladly appears at community events, commemorating the most important events and dates. Works by foreign and Lithuanian composers are performed. In addition to the repertoire of sacred and church music, the choir has prepared a repertoire of classical works and songs. Depending on the concert location and the nature of the event, the choir may perform a cappella or with the help of piano, organ and other instruments.

    Safe Women's Vocal Ensemble „Evening”

    The women's vocal ensemble was formed in 1999. February 2004 we called ourselves „Vakares”. 10 female singers sing in the ensemble. The collective's repertoire consists of national, sacred, music by Lithuanian composers, Lithuanian folk songs. Every year, we prepare several programs with which we appear at regional community celebrations and strategic events. We cooperate with other collectives, prepare joint programs. in 2020 At the republican competition of vocal ensembles „Silver Voices”, we won the II degree diploma and the group was approved for II category. The members of the collective give a piece of themselves and warm every listener with their songs.

    Vainuta folklore ensemble „Vainuta”

    The Vainuta folklore collective „Vainuta” gathered in 2011. There are currently 15 members. Most of the members of the ensemble are people from the village of Vainutas – the continuers of the tradition, who have preserved the songs, dances, customs and stories of their region. In its repertoire, the collective uses the material of singing and narrative folklore collected and accumulated by the cultural center. The ensemble has prepared several thematic programs: „Oi sodai, sodai…” (for the year of folk art), „When the heart sings” (romances), „After the native oak” (evening program). During the years of the collective's activity, our country's songs were played at local and district events, the republican Song Festival, and the „BALITICA” festival held in Latvia. A bridge of friendship was built with the Latvian Rucavas folklore collective.

    Vainutas amateur theater group „Čemodans”

    Vainutas amateur theater collective „Čemodans” has existed since ancient times. Currently, the team consists of 5 members. From 2023 in September the troupe is led by Justina Giedraitytė, an organizer of cultural activities working in Vainute. The members of the troupe are Vainutiškis, who go hand in hand with the theater through life. This theater for art lovers has staged performances based on well-known plays. For example: „Three loved ones”, „Thief, the hat is on fire” and so on. Every year, the theater team puts on one new play and invites you to celebrate International Theater Day together by watching the play's premiere. The amateur theater of Vainutas is happy to visit the surrounding towns as well, presenting cheerful performances and the best emotions to the audience.

    Vainutas mixed choir was established in 2023. Currently, the choir consists of 19 members. Most of the members of the mixed choir are local residents of Vainutas, who carry a love of music in their hearts. Although the choir has only been together for a year, the repertoire is made up of a wide range. Concert programs are intended for public holidays, to commemorate important dates, or for ordinary occasions. The choir is distinguished by its lively accordion music and, depending on the circumstances, the sound of the horns. The Vainutas mixed choir is happy to adapt and perform its performances in churches.

    The team of the ethnocultural center of the Žemaica region, which has been in existence for over 20 years, really has a lot to be proud of. 16-20 concerts are held during the year. Works performed by „Pilutė” are heard not only at events in Šilutė city and district, but also in various corners of Lithuania. The collective performed in Kretinga and Plungė, and in Klaipėda they entertained the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė with their songs at a fisherman's homestead.
    At the „Tautas sisttametičių žuolaų” award, the Degučiai folklore collective „Pilutė” won the award „The most ethnic community of the district”. In the spring of 2021, a descendant of the Stelmužė oak tree took root in Degučiai.
    The collective not only sings, but also prepares various educational programs. Perhaps the most memorable of them is „Kopūštamushis” held in 2008. Children's favorite education is „Country Games and Worm Pancakes”

    The vocal ensemble „Naumiesti Retro” is a young collective that was formed on the eve of January 17, 2023 in Naumiestis, Žemaičiai. Žavinta Daukšienė, Laima Girulienė, Ornela Gudavičė from Šiluti, sisters Viktorija Sudžiutė and Rita Gečienė from Gardam went on a further musical journey together with the director of the ensemble Indre Tomsonaite.

    in 2024 Valerijonas Krutikovas, the long-term leader of bands and ensembles, songwriter and performer, organically joins the team (he is entrusted with the important role of a soloist). Steve Hammerton, who also came from Liverpool, came to Gardam. The members of the collective are people from different professions (teachers, organizers, managers, physiotherapists), who are united by timeless music and original works of the ensemble.

    The collective's repertoire is formed with the help of such authors of music and songs as Harry Belafonte, Roy Orbison, Leo Friedman. Musical genres of other nations are also in the repertoire: American gospel songs, Irish traditional and original songs by Indrė Tomsonaitė. The ensemble collaborates with one of the best jazz pianists in Lithuania, Sauli Šiaučiuli. Together they prepared a concert program at the „Lucijos štešitako” festival of Christmas carols and songs.

    Usėnai women's vocal ensemble „Smiltė” has been active since 2013. Until 2016, the ensemble was led by Regina Stonkuvienė. Dalia Svirskaitė is currently teaching women to sing.

    Women's vocal ensemble „Smiltė” is actively growing its goals and aspirations every year together with the ensemble. From heart to heart, so that everyone who comes to rehearsals or a concert leaves inspired and lighter, even if they forget their daily worries for a while. Year changes year, new members join, some leave, and some are here for the entire life of the ensemble. On this day, there are eleven women in the ranks of Smiltė. The collective successfully appears at Usėnai borough events, performs at festivals and festivals in Šilute and neighboring districts. The repertoire includes songs on various topics: about the homeland, love, friendship, nature, work.

    The Lithuanian National Cultural Center awarded the group III category for its artistic level and performance, and „Smilte” was awarded A (highest) category in the inspection of vocal ensembles in the Šilutė region.

    Usėnai ethnographic theater NEGELYS has been in existence for 9 years. The theater represents not only Usėnai borough, but also Šilutė district, Little Lithuania. Spectators from the cities of Tauragė, Jurbarkas, Klaipėda, Kazlų Rūda, and Vilnius saw the performances based on the works of Herman Zudermans, Vydūnas, Šarlotė Kaiser, and Ieva Simonaitytė. The theater is a participant in various projects and festivals, and presents plays at district theater inspections LĖKIS and national competitions ATSPINDŽIAI. Vigorous and creative amateur theater for adults is waiting for the audience, which inspires them to grow, develop and nurture the traditions and customs of their country.

    Usėnai KIEMO LĖELIU theater has been performing its creative activities for 5 years. The theater repertoire includes plays not only for adults, but also for children. Expressive dolls and playful performances are shown at various celebrations and events of the elders. The theater is a laureate of the MOLINUKOS TEATRAS competition of Lithuanian puppet theaters. In July, KIEMÓ LĖLĖS will represent the Šilutė district at the Song Festival „That the forest is green”.

    Juknai women's vocal ensemble „Vējūnė”

    Juknai women's vocal ensemble „Vējūnė” has been active since 2007. 11 pedagogues sing in this harmonious and friendly group, led by music teacher Jūratė Šukienė. Every year, the ensemble prepares 2-3 concert programs for various occasions and events. Some ensemble programs are educational. In its other concert programs, the „Vėjūnė” ensemble performs not only Lithuanian folk songs and their compositions, hymns, but also works by contemporary composers. For more than ten years, the ensemble has been organizing the Advent evening, which has become traditional, in which groups from all over Lithuania participate. „Vējūnė” ensemble actively participates in regional and national events. in 2021 The Lithuanian National Cultural Center awarded the ensemble II category according to artistic level, activities, achievements, in 2022. the ensemble was approved for the highest A category of amateur art collectives in the Šilutė district, in 2022. In the 4th international music video competition „Bravo” the ensemble „Vējūnė” was evaluated with a 1st degree diploma, and in 2023 „Vējūnė” won a silver diploma at the international vocal group competition „Victoria Cracow” in Krakow.

    The women of „Vējūnė” were united by the love of the song. We became, as it were, a musical family. We will sing and try to make our songs touch the hearts of the listeners, because this is the greatest achievement.
